Kareri is a small glacial lake at an elevation of approximately 9620 feet above sea level. The place fascinates everyone with its natural beauty, tranquil environs and clean and fresh air. The lake is surrounded by  high-altitude grasslands, which are gently sloped and lures trekkers from every part of the world.

Before you start the Kareri Lake trekking tour, you will get one day to explore the small town of McLeodganj, which would be good enough to acclimatize yourself as well. Start the trip by an easy walk to the Kareri village, where you would camp at night. The next section of the excursion will take you along the water stream to the campsite of Lioti. Crossing the river via boulders and temporary bridges will give you much thrill. The excursion from Lioti to the lake is full of breathtaking scenery.  After camping for a night by the lake, you will hike down to Ghera, and this phase of Kareri Lake trekking will be a beautiful one.

Such a refreshing experience

I really enjoyed my Kareri Lake Trek. It was definitely tiring in some sections, but walking through the forests, crossing the streams, and seeing the mountains up close made it so much more enjoyable. Reaching Kareri Lake felt like a proper achievement after the long walk. I loved the peaceful atmosphere and being away from the usual crowds. Overall, such a refreshing experience and I’m really glad I did it!
